An expat family of three sought to preserve their sense of home wherever they settled.

Living in an ever-changing era, we long to feel the warmth, emotions, and sense of comfort that a true home brings—amidst the uncertainty and shifting surroundings.

A family of three returning from overseas wanted to maintain their sense of belonging to home, no matter where they are. So, we decided to incorporate vintage elements from their previous overseas residence into their new home, easing the unfamiliarity and discomfort for the couple and their young daughter as they adjusted to a new environment.

Most of the early discussions took place online. The designer learned that the family loves reading and traveling, and their home is filled with books and souvenirs from their journeys. We wanted them to fully immerse themselves in their passions at home, which inspired the idea of building an entire bookshelf wall for them. The scent of wood and the fragrance of printed pages spread throughout the space, evoking a sense of peace and relaxation.
