UK SPOUSE VISA 2021 | Frequently Asked Questions

DISCLAIMER: This information is based on my experience and will not guarantee you a UK Spouse visa. I am not a solicitor or visa advisor.

There have a some repeated questions here and there so I’ll just condense 10 of them as the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for UK SPOUSE VISA 2021 and answer them in this video, in case anyone needs some further information regarding their application.

1) I took Priority Visa service. How long does it take to receive my visa?
Priority Visa is 25 working days. You have to exclude weekends when estimating when you’ll receive your visa. IF your visa is straightforward and there are no problems at all with your application, and your biometric appointment is on the 1st of February, then you SHOULD hear something back by 5th of March EARLIEST or early weeks of March.

2) How long do I have to wait if I take Standard service?
EARLIEST 60 working days. It depends on your visa centre, some might hear back within 3 months while others will hear back after 6 months. If you haven’t heard anything after 60 working days, then try contacting Home Office via email (£2 per email) and request an update. They might escalate your case from there.

4) Do you need a lawyer for the visa application?
No. I did it myself, I wouldn’t say it was easy but it wasn't difficult either. It’s tedious and detailed, so take your time and double-check all your info and documents to make sure you didn’t miss anything.

5) Can I scan my document myself to upload for my application?
Yes. I’d recommend you scan everything in colour so that every detail of your documents are included.

6) Can I use pdfs of bank statements from my bank?
Yes. I enquired about this before and was informed that a pdf from your bank, with your bank details, will suffice.

7) Can you pause your application and return to it at a later time?
Yes. At any time while doing your online application, you can save it and send an email to yourself with a link of where you’ve stopped in the application.

8) Here’s a question from a subscriber, “I had 2 speeding tickets. Do I need to include this in my application as convictions?”
Yes. If you have any convictions, including speeding tickets, please be honest on your application. And to prove that you’ve already paid off any fines, include your speeding ticket receipts/letter, whatever to show that you’re a decent citizen of society lol

9). How do you compress your pdfs to be 5mb for upload?

10) Do I need to include wedding photos and WhatsApp conversations in my documents? Is a marriage certificate enough?
Yes. The marriage certificate is the MOST important to show that you are legally married, and then photos of you both together prove that you’ve met each other physically, and WhatsApp conversations/phone call logs prove that you are constantly in contact with each other. This is necessary so that your marriage isn’t seen as a sham or doesn’t raise any suspicion at all.
