The Beats Solo Pro were supposed to be the best earphones that beats has ever made. I find that hard to believe after using them for a couple days as everyday headphones, workout headphones, and headphones for media consumption. These are labeled as noise cancelling headphones and I will say that they do the job pretty well for on ear headphones. Let’s talk about them being on ear headphones for a second. On ear headphone are not for everybody has they are very different from over the ear headphones. On ear headphones sit on your ears instead of going around them which usually means there will be more pressure on ears from the clamp force of the headphones.

Transparency mode is not apparent in these headphones. When it is turned on I do not get the same effect as I do in the Airpod Pros. The transparency mode on the beats solo pro are very ineffective and I honestly could not tell the difference between having them on and off in most cases.

These headphones do have comfort going for them. The memory foam on these headphones are very soft and feel really good resting on your ears...after a certain amount of time. See, despite the memory foam cups being soft and the clamp force not being as bad you will still get ear fatigue from them resting on you’re after sometime.

The battery life is roughly 22 hours although I felt like i was getting less to my usage. Another gripe I had was that there was no true way to turn these off unless you folded them. The technology is cool, but what if I wanted to just wear them around my neck and have them off to save battery? You would literally have to turn off ANC to get that “40 hours” worth of battery life to save up on some juice since you cannot exactly turn these off unless they are folded.

The sound quality of these headphones are meh. The studio 3’s are hands down way better and I believe it is because of the over ear design from the headphones themselves. The on ear design i feel like, despite the sound quality being decent, gives a muddy/muffled sound. It is not as immersive as over the ear headphones are earbuds that go into your ear canal to fully immerse you into your music. The soundstage was lacking and spatial sound was dead to me compared to the Airpod Pros. In all honesty the due to the volume levels on the solo pros being so low the Airpod Pros do sound better since they are in the field in volume levels. The studio 3’s can get loud and they won’t distort at higher volumes. I found myself comfortably at 50 to 60 percent volume during my workouts with the studio 3s with room to crank it up when it’s time to get serious. That is irrelevant on the solo pros.

The verdict is that these are not worth their price and should be 100 dollar headphones because they are straight dumpster fire compared to other headphones in this price range and that’s that. I’ll still leave links for those die hard beats fans that want the latest and greatest, but you should honestly just get the studio 3s or powerbeats pro if you’re looking for workout headphones and love the beats brand.
