Four-and-a-half-year-old Amay Singh had suffered from constant watering and sticky discharge from his right eye since birth. Despite months of massages and warm compresses advised elsewhere, the symptoms persisted. When Dr. Ruchi examined him, gentle pressure near the inner corner of the eye caused mucoid discharge to regurgitate clear evidence of a blocked tear-drainage pathway.

To permanently resolve the condition, Dr. Ruchi performed an External DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy) with Intubation, a delicate oculoplastic microsurgery that creates an alternative channel for tears to drain naturally into the nose. During the procedure, a thin silicone stent was inserted through the tear ducts and nasal passage to keep the new opening patent while healing occurs.

The surgery was smooth, safe, and successful. Within ten days, Amay’s discharge and watering had completely stopped, leaving only minor post-operative swelling that soon subsided.
