Harvesting and Milling Poplar with Woodland Mills HM130 Woodlander XL

Update: I would not recommend this saw mill. Over all there are many very cheap components and flaws, and very poor after sales service. So much so that I ended up selling the mill shortly after this video. Spend the extra money and buy yourself a woodmizer unit
G'day youtube! In today's video, I'm going to take down a 12" diameter aspen poplar tree and mill it into usable 2x6 lumber to close in the front of our 16 x52 shed-to-house project.

I'd like to install a nice large front door and make the current deck into a mud room. Rather than go out and purchase the 2x6s, we will get them from this poplar that was growing on the property.

The great thing about poplar, is that it can be used "green". In fact, when it fully dries, it will likely be too hard to put nails into without pilot holes.

I hope you guys enjoy the video! I enjoyed putting it together for ya. Please be sure to hit the like button if you want to see more!

I recently purchased this HM130 Woodlander XL package from Woodland Mills and have really been enjoying using it after getting the assembly figured out. This is NOT a sponsored video.

Fun fact for anybody concerned about harvesting standing trees: At the end of every summer, Katie and I will be planting 2 trees for every 1 that we milled. Ensuring a sustainable harvest that leaves a healthy planet for our children and yours!
