Atlas Mountains, Erfoud & Rissani, Morocco (2020)

After we left Fez, first stop was Ifran, a Moroccan ski resort. Then ascend scenic roads past pine groves and giant cedar trees. Midmorning, we crossed the 6,000-foot pass and continue west toward the great Sahara. Next, stopped for lunch in the village of Midelt. Eenjoying views of the remarkable Ziz Gorges and vast valleys. we continue to Erfoud for dinner and overnight. Next morning, we explored the small city of Rissani on the edge of the Sahara and stopped at a fossil factory Then, wandered its lively souk, and visit a 17th-century ksar. Afterward, pass by the ancient ruins of Sijilmasa on the River Ziz, once a bustling Berber city and medieval trade depot. and visited a local bread shop. We returnrd to Erfoud to change the bus to 4X4 SUV for Sahara adventure.
