Anne Cleary, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at Colorado State University who studies human memory. She received her Ph.D. in 2001 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the recipient of a National Science Foundation early CAREER award in her early career as a faculty member. She has previously served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation, directing the Perception, Action and Cognition program within the Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences and has also written a blog for Psychology Today called “Quirks of Memory.”
Dr. Cleary is currently the President of the Society for Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Science (Division 3 of the American Psychological Association) and also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Cognitive Psychology program at Colorado State. Dr. Cleary has published widely on weird quirks of memory such as tip-of-the-tongue experiences (when a word feels like it is right on the verge of being accessed
