In the last few days of 2020, China faced the most powerful cold wave in history. Within a day, the temperature in some parts of northern China fell more than 10-degrees celsius.

But in such a cold situation, local governments in Shanxi Province have disregarded the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and confiscated their stoves, coal and firewood with large machines through violent law enforcement, in the so-called "three zeros" coal ban campaign.

The cold wave came less than 2 weeks after the coal ban on Australia, and has led to a significant increase in electricity consumption in most areas in China, and the authority has to implement "power restrictions" with rotational power supply at different times of a day, including in Shanghai, the country's busiest city.
