Conservation: Gaekwad of Baroda Uniform

This elaborately embroidered uniform (comprising a jacket, trousers and helmet), was made for Maharaja Khanderao Gaekwad of Baroda. He would have worn it when inspecting his troops or on other such ceremonial occasions.

In this video, Textile Conservator Sarah Glenn explains the work she has done in preparation for displaying the uniform for the V&A exhibition: 'Maharaja – The Splendour of India's Royal Courts', which ran from October 2009 – January 2010.
