Why Did Joseph Smith Remove Christ’s Name from His Church?

If Joseph Smith truly restored Christ’s one true church, why did he remove Christ’s name from it?

In 1830, the church was called The Church of Jesus Christ. But in 1834, Joseph changed it to "The Church of the Latter Day Saints," completely omitting Jesus Christ’s name. It wasn’t until 1838 that the name became The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If Christ revealed the church’s name in 1830, why was it changed four years later? Did Christ change His mind—or was this just a human decision?

For a church that insists names matter—especially with today's strong emphasis on "The Church of Jesus Christ"—this historical inconsistency raises serious questions. If removing Christ’s name was once acceptable, why does the modern church claim it’s essential?

💬 What do you think? Was this a divine revelation or just another shift in Joseph Smith’s evolving theology? Drop a comment below!
