France is famous for its luxury boutiques and designer brands, but it's also one of the top destinations for second-hand shopping. We head to Lille for the annual flea market frenzy that takes over the northern French city. Every year, over two million visitors come to shop at what has become Europe’s biggest garage sale.
One man's trash is another man’s treasure, and that’s especially true for Paris's so-called "biffins". These are individuals who go through bins and discarded belongings to find items they can then sell from makeshift stalls on the sidewalks of the capital. Their business is regarded as illegal by authorities, unlike those who sell at flea markets and car boot sales.
And while nothing compares to a good old-fashioned garage sale, many people now turn to the internet to sell their second-hand goods. With nearly a million visitors each day, Le Bon Coin - literally "the good corner" - has become a household name here in France. We caught up with CEO Antoine Jouteau to find out the secrets to this second-hand success story.
