Interesting concept of a reincarnation of Ai that I got commissioned! Thanks for editing by the commissioner of a small part I recorded when working on this illustration! I always thought Ai reminded me a lot of Shogun in appearance, so this was absolutely pleasing to work on!

BACKSTORY:
After dying in the present day on Earth, Ai was reborn in another world where technology was stagnant in the fantasy world. Ai retains her memories from her previous life as a idol. Also being born into the Raiden clan, having a caring family which she loves in return. Raiden Takahiro was the family head of the family and AI’s older brother Raiden Tadakatsu adored Ai for her musical abilities. Not only that, Ai also was taught in self defense and diplomatic relations between other clans. Her past life as a idol did attract many fans outside of Raiden territory to the point that the Dragonfly Shogunate or the Bakufu were aware of it.
Peace reigned for a thousand years since the great wars, but the Dragonfly Shogunate became corrupt to the point where many of their officials were corrupt for embezzling funds. By the time Ai was only fifteen, her father Takahiro exposed the Dragonfly Shogun for their corruption before the late Emperor Yoshimune. Instead the Raiden clan’s post were expelled from Kasugayama castle. A battle erupted outside the castle that resulted in Takahiro and the majority of their men dying. Then the Dragonfly Shogunate ordered the Harakiri of Takahiro’s only son. Not only removing the bloodline succession but also making an example of. With the deaths of the lineage of the Raiden clan, the Dragonfly Shogun gave the Daimyo position to Ai as a punishment for their actions. The Shogunate believes that a woman Daimyo would remove the threat of the Raiden clan and also any other clans from opposing their rule. With such injustice, Ai secretly restructured her army and making alliances with other clans. Also trade with a steampunk nation allowed Ai to have western officers to train her men in their style. Modern firearms and artillery were supplied to the Raiden clan and their allies. The Rai-Chō alliance was formed from the Tozama Butterfly clan which had the same inspiration as the Raiden clan. Ai Raiden donned the armour worn by Raiden Norihito and marched her forces through enemy territory. Their mission was to prevent any Dragonfly forces from interfering with the coronation of a new Emperor Gojiro, Gojiro begin a few years younger than Ai with self confidence issues but he has put faith in his new allies. A Shinobi spokesman informed Ai that two armies from the Dragonfly Army were on the way with a letter to deliver to the Emperor of her treachery. With AI’s forces outnumbered 3 to 1, it’s up to her General Sogo to make the necessary decisions. Will AI’s gambit of modernisation prevail against traditional forces?

Bio timeskip: After the victory at the two rivers, due to the Dragonfly army being no match for the Rai-Chō Alliance. The presentation of the Emperor’s banners had an impact on Shogunate forces as attacking the banner marked them as a traitor. After five years, the Shogunate was dismantled to the core. Former Shogunate forces continue to resist to the point that one of the Dragonfly’s sister branches was in visual sight of Ai. Ai chose not the run as the morale of her troops would suffer so she commanded her troops personally until the enemy attack was broken. The Boshin War in this world lasted for another six months until peace reigned. With the imperial forces being victorious in the overthrow of the corrupt Shogunate government. Later on, the Emperor had ministers to run the country with the removal of the feudal system. Ai knew this would happen so she went back to her work in the entertainment industry.
