Can Satellites Predict Livestock Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Real Time?

At IEEE Montreal 2026, Prajesh Padmanaban, PhD student in the Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie University’s Truro Campus and joint doctoral researcher from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (India), presents a next-generation AI framework that combines satellite intelligence, climate data, soil analytics, and livestock information to map agricultural N₂O emissions across Canada.

Developed under the supervision of Professor Suresh Neethirajan, this work pushes climate-smart agriculture beyond traditional reporting systems into the era of scalable, real-time, AI-driven environmental intelligence.

From greenhouse gas hotspots to policy-ready carbon monitoring, this research demonstrates how Earth observation and AI are converging to reshape the future of sustainable livestock production and national emissions forecasting.

This is digital agriculture moving from dashboards to planetary-scale decision intelligence.
