Autumn Days On The Severn Valley Railway - October 2020

The Severn Valley Railway is one of my favourite lines to film on, couple that together with my favourite season and that's a winning combination. During October, I've made three visits to the SVR, capturing various forms of motive power running through some beautiful autumnal settings. The first visit was on Wednesday 7th to film 34027 'Taw Valley', working the Kidderminster to Bridgnorth leg of Saphos Trains' 'Severn Valley Enterprise' rail tour, which originated from Crewe with 34046 'Braunton' at the helm. The next trip up was only two days later, when Great Western tank engines were the flavour of the day, with Pannier Tank No.7714 and 1400 Class No.1450 paired up to the work the SVR's 'Wanderer' service. With her boiler ticket due to expire soon, this was not only a rare opportunity to see 1450 in action this year, but also one of the last chances before she is withdrawn from service around the end of the year. There was also some Maybach Music to be heard, with Warship Class Diesel Hydraulic No.D821 'Greyhound' working the 'Pioneer' service. The final visit for the month was on Friday 23rd, when ex-Port Talbot Railway Saddle Tank No.813 made a rare appearance, working double headed with 7714 on the 'Wanderer' service. We were also treated to some Maybach Music once again, with Western Class Diesel Hydraulic No.D1015 'Western Champion' working the 'Pioneer', top and tailed with Class 40 No.40106 'Atlantic Conveyor', who is currently visiting the SVR from the East Lancs Railway, courtesy of the Class 40 Preservation Society.
