What to Pack for Hawaii and Why (Advice from a Local)

One of the most common questions asked about Hawaii is "What should I pack for Hawaii?" Most of the things you'll need for your vacation can be purchased here, but I thought it would be helpful to share some common items that I'd recommend bringing to Hawaii and, more importantly, why. You'll be able to buy most of these items in Hawaii, but if you're a planner or don't want the added cost and stress, I figure it's easier to just pack these things before you get here.
