Contempt of Court in a Custody Case TODAY May Help Your FUTURE Case

Believe it or not, getting a judge to find contempt of court in a custody case TODAY could help your child custody case TOMORROW. Contempt of court happens all the time, but oftentimes, people don't look beyond the immediate "win" of a contempt finding to learn how they could use the finding in a future child custody battle. Child custody cases are rarely won on one factor alone; usually a party prevails due to many best interest factors being in a party's favor. Remember: a contempt of court order can be used in the future! Word to the wise: Do not disobey a family court order unless you want to be faced with a contempt of court case. If a judge makes a contempt of court judgement after a child custody hearing, that finding could be used at a future child custody modification case. Check your local jurisdiction to learn how to file a contempt of court order / petition.
