DISCLAIMER: I am aware the data on cloth masks is limited and that they can’t be officially endorsed as actual medical-grade PPE, and I am not doing so. However, we find ourselves in a pandemic when nurses and doctors have literally nothing and are being told to use bandannas in a pinch. This is at least something. However, you will have to make your own personal/professional call on this.
Video tutorial for making a cloth facemask. My 6-year-old assisted with filming :) Not my most precise work, but precision isn't necessary. Also made this video very quickly so pardon my rambling. These are machine-washable, adjustable cloth masks made of 100% cotton externally with an internal non-woven polyester interfacing filter. I used lightweight interfacing for breath -ability and made sure it was machine-washable. After some research this was the best construction I came up with to provide some protection and breathability/comfort.
ADDENDUM: no one in my home is ill or with any symptoms currently, but whenever I finish a batch of these I put them through high heat in the dryer, then wash my hands thoroughly before transferring them into a clean box and shutting the lid. This is how I've been delivering them
