Human Resources Legal and Family And Medical Leave Act Updates

2012 Summer Conference - The presentation will provide an overview of a public employer's obligations under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and recent cases interpreting FMLA. It will also focus on the 2010 Legislative Amendment to FMLA, entitled the "National Defense Authorization Act" (NDAA), and the 2012 United States Department of Labor's regulations interpreting the NDAA as it relates to an employer's increased responsibilities to military personnel and their family members. This will also include a brief synopsis of related laws, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act and Veterans Opportunity to Work to Hire Heroes Act. Lastly, there will be an interactive discussion of various scenarios on the interplay between FMLA, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Florida Worker's Compensation Law.
