Truck Near Miss

Here's proof that
1. Weer'd of Assorted Calibers Podcast aren't ALWAYS the soundtrack to my near misses.
2. It's not always the other guy's fault.

In this case it appears that the Amazon truck was signaling a right lane change. I have no idea why he changed lanes to the left and then came right back, but I think he was signaling and I think I missed his signal. Luckily the Camry has good brakes, and I had an out.

Mr. Amazon Trucker was running in the right lane, pretty far in front of me. He changed lanes into the left lane, so I attempted to pass him as he slowed down. I believed that he was slowing to make a left turn ahead. When he came back into the right lane I spiked the brakes, realized I could make the right turn, so I turned hard to get completely out of the way. I've been hit by a semi before and even at very slow speeds they pack a wallop.

I have no idea what Mr. Amazon Trucker's intentions were. He could not possibly have turned right at the intersection I escaped on. He would have had very little reason to turn into the gas station I ended up in. It's an utter mystery why he did what he did. But even so, he apparently signaled, so if we'd have hit each other it probably would have been my fault. Luckily we both did what we had to do to avoid swapping paint.

About 1/4 mile down the road he made a U-Turn and came back towards the gas station but I still have no idea where he was attempting to go.

Here's what I'm happy about.
1. No accident.
2. I was able to maneuver quickly and effectively to remove myself from any possibility of getting hit.
3. I was silent throughout the maneuver. I didn't yell or speak or make any sounds at all. When you speak you force your brain to multitask, which it cannot do effectively. If you want to talk, talk. If you want to drive, drive. Don't try to form sentences and perform emergency maneuvers at the same time. You're likely to do both poorly.
4. I didn't automatically assume that he was the idiot. I passed the guy as he made his U-Turn. I didn't give him the finger or cuss him out or even glare at him. I was genuinely concerned that I had made the mistake. When the dashcam showed me that, yes, he had been signaling, it wasn't a huge blow to my ego. And I wasn't even more of a jerk to someone, which has got to be worth something.
