To gain the Lord's approval and His highest blessings, we need to be prepared. Truth, service, and love are the formula by which we can become the chosen generation we have the potential to be.

"From those parables [of the virgins, the talents, and the fig tree] I'd like to suggest that if we are really to be a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, we have the responsibility to be prepared, to be productive, to be faithful, and to be fruitful as well. What we need, as we journey along this period known as mortality is a compass to chart our course, a map to guide our footsteps, and a patter whereby we might mold and shape our very lives. And tonight I'd like to share with you a formula which, in my judgment, will help you and help me to journey well through mortality and to that great reward of the Celestial Kingdom of our Heavenly Father:

1. Fill your mind with truth.

2. Fill your life with service.

3. Fill your heart with love." - Elder Monson

Thomas S. Monson was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he gave this devotional address on 2 November 1975.
