On a transfer of trust land the beneficial rights under the trust detached from the land, which means the purchaser cannot be affected by them (so the purchaser takes free from the beneficial interest under trust). The rights then re-attach themselves to the replacement property that the trustees (the legal owner of the freehold) receive from the transferee (usually money). This property becomes the trust property in place of the land.
