We were impressed by this Martin Custom Shop Dreadnought from the very first moment. It has some very special features that give it a unique character. The basis is a 12-fret dreadnought with non-scalloped X-bracing. In combination with the finest Italian alpine spruce and wonderfully figured black walnut, the guitar produces a clear and powerful sound. The 12-fret construction also creates a three-dimensional depth. What´s surprising is that it responds so easily that fingerpicking is effortless. When playing with a pick, it unfolds its full power. In any case, the tone remains defined, clear and balanced.
Visually, the fine woods speak for themselves. No abalone inlays are needed here to exude a classy look. The bindings made of European maple are also beautiful to look at. Small but fine details are the angled bone nut, the headstock veneer made of black walnut, and the C.F.Martin stamp on the back of the headstock!
