Yutian County in Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang, marks the final section to be completed in the Taklamakan Desert's edge-sealing project. Roses planted here last year have now taken root tenaciously in the sandy expanse. Recently, local residents have begun cultivating new rose seedlings deep within the desert. How do roses survive in such arid conditions? In Qiemo County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, situated on the southeastern edge of the Taklamakan Desert, aridity and scarce rainfall prevail.Cultivating seafood in this desert environment once seemed inconceivable, yet it has now become a reality. How can one raise ‘seafood’ without the sea?
