Panaplex Clock

A clock I built using Panaplex (planar gas discharge) displays from the early 1970s. Panaplex displays are very similar to Nixie tubes, but use a flat package and a 7-segment arrangement. They are driven in exactly the same manner as Nixie tubes (160-180V anode voltage), but use less current (hundreds of microamps) per segment.

Since I don't have time to make snappy, polished videos, I prefer to do them long-form and a bit rambly. In this video I show off its features and describe the hardware.
