How to decide if you should workout or not... #Fitness #Motivation

Most of us are messy busy humans with jobs and family and pets and kids and LIFE happening all around us.

Yesterday, I had only 6.5 hours of wonky sleep and felt pretty BLEH about my lift. But I chugged a bottle of water + Liquid IV after a post-lunch snack and got it in. I felt fine during it. I just needed to take care of organ sac.

Today, I slept 7.5 hours, felt fine, the all-mighty Whoop recovery was green, but felt a little scattered and groggy this morning. I ate a decent pre-lift meal, a bottle of water + did my hardest lift of the week. I felt fine and better after.

Sometimes we feel MEH but our bodies are fine to perform or sometimes movement can end up making us feel BETTER by doing it + giving us some spark or energy we need.

I find often that MANY The Lyss Method clients who feel worn down during training or exercise need more carbs + hydration + sleep where possible for them in their life.

And yes, I know I know @ parents the sleep is hard. I’m not here to lecture you on this. Just do your best where you’re at. And know that the exercise still has benefits if you’re tired. It may even help reduce some of the negative impacts poor sleep has on our metabolism.

And that good sleep hygiene may help improve your quality of even lower quantity sleep.

This is just a simple rule I’ve made up for myself. You don’t have to follow it.

But I like it as a way to see if how I feel is from the need for TRUE rest or if my body actually is asking me for something else.

Somedays, I’m just TIRED from work and rather not workout and move my rest day to that day to work with my body. Somedays that workout needs done or it’s not getting done and we make it work.

At the end of the day, you’re an adult who can do what they want with their fitness or life. But if you’re feeling resistance ask yourself — is my check engine light actually on? Or is it just a false tire pressure flag and we’re still good to drive.
