Once a popular tourist destination, it is now a quirky place filled with art, bird life, abandoned places, beautiful views and Slab City (the last free place). While the pollution of the sea, the smells, and trash deter many people, the Salton Sea is still an interesting place to visit (and we think worth visiting, at least once).
