Pediatric Robot-Assisted Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) at Children’s

Children's recently added a robot to our existing stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) procedure. This gives an integrated platform of surgical planning for epilepsy patients. The robot helps neurosurgeons accurately place electrodes in the brain where abnormal electric activity may be occurring, which helps pinpoint the source of the seizures. Once up to a 12-hour procedure, can now be done in less than two hours, reducing the amount of time spent under anesthesia. For more information about epilepsy and treatment options, visit www.choa.org/epilepsy.
