Chronology of Harappan Archaeology - Part 1 I Dr. V. N. Prabhakar I Research I UGC NET

Department of History of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University had organised a Two-Day Symposium on the theme ‘Life along the Indus-Saraswati: Revisiting Harappan Civilisation’ on 30th September and 1st October 2025. The symposium saw participation from scholars across India and abroad with an interest in South Asian archaeology especially Harappan Archaeology. Renowned experts have given their lectures on various themes on Harappan Archaeology. These lectures provide an insight on recent developments in the field of study of the Harappan Archaeology. Apart from enriching the knowledge of the students these talks will also help the aspiring researchers to take interest in Archaeology as their field of study.
This lecture is by V. N. Prabhakar. He is an Associate Professor (Archaeology) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, since September 2020. He is the Coordinator of the Archaeological Sciences Centre at IIT Gandhinagar, fostering the application of sciences in archaeology. He specializes in the Protohistoric Archaeology of India with a special focus on Harappan Culture, Field Archaeology, Heritage Management and the Application of Sciences in Archaeology. Formerly, he was the Director (of Exploration & Excavation) at the Archaeological Survey of India.

The title of this lecture is: Present Status of Research in Harappan Archaeology: What Lies Ahead? This is the first part of this two part video.
