Hero cop tricked mob and led them away from Senate chambers during Capitol attack
A police officer has been praised for his role steering an angry mob away from the Senate chambers during the deadly storming of the US Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump last Wednesday.
Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman, first identified by CNN reporter Kristin Wilson, can be seen getting rioters to move away from the Senate as police raced to secure the chamber.
In the confrontation, captured on camera by HuffPost reporter Igor Bobic, Mr Goodman put himself between a man wearing a black T-shirt promoting the QAnon conspiracy movement and a hallway leading to the Senate chambers.
He then shoved the man to induce him and the crowd to chase him towards other officers, waiting in a chamber in the opposite direction.
