The Kelvin cell structure was a proposed solution to the Kelvin conjecture, which relates to forming a foam like structures with equal volume and minimal surfaces.
It has been explored for a number practical uses as it appears to give good energy absorbing properties.
This lattice was created using my lattice generator addon for Blender. It is one of the many lattice options that I've included. Properties such as cell size, wire thickness and smoothing are controllable parameters. The structures can also have variable thickness which is useful for topology optimisation.
