WATCH: ‘We cannot divorce' Trump's high court nominee from the election, Klobuchar says of Barrett

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., challenged Republicans' argument that the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court should be treated separately from the current political moment, accusing President Donald Trump's congressional allies of “doing his bidding” by rushing the process during an election year. “We cannot, and you watching at home should not, separate this hearing from the moment we are in and from the judge,” Klobuchar said, noting that Barrett’s confirmation would have a profound impact on Americans’ lives, from access to health care to reproductive rights to same-sex marriage. “Why are you voting?” Klobuchar said, addressing American voters ahead of the election, the results of which Trump has suggested he may try to contest at the Supreme Court. “You know that your rights, your health, your health care is on the line. You know that they are trying to push through a justice who has been critical of upholding the Affordable Care Act. And they're doing it in the middle of a pandemic.” She continued, “So, no, we cannot divorce this nominee and her views from the election we are in.”
