What is FXO, the Guide to Get to Know Foreign Exchange Offices Ports and their Use

FXOs or Foreign eXchange Offices are those ports on devices which you plug the phone cable in. This is where voltage, and dialtone enters your device.

An FXO port is always escorted by an FXS (Foreign eXchange Subscriber) port which is the plug on the wall, providing the analog line. If you have a PBX (Private Branch eXchange, a server) you can install it between the FXO and the FXS, to manage the connection between the analog phone system and the voip system via the Internet.

You can also connect traditional phones to the Internet if you obtain a certain device that can synchronize several technical devices. This device is called ATA (Analog Telephone Adapters that connects the Internet-based telephone system to the analog system).
