This Kiswahili Paper 2, titled "Insha na Utangulizi wa Fasihi" (Composition and Introduction to Literature), is a Kenya Junior School Education Assessment paper. Questions assess the identification of the sub-genre, character analysis, literary techniques, and moral lessons.
Task III: Novela (Novella) - Candidates read an excerpt about Mzee Juma, who is troubled by the changing world and the cultural gap between his generation and the youth, exemplified by his daughter Zawadi. Questions test the understanding of the setting, character traits, and social issues.
Task IV: Tamthilia (Drama) - This section presents a scene from a play where a conflict arises between siblings, Ruhusa and Dawa, over household chores, highlighting issues of gender roles. The questions cover genre identification, character traits, the function of stage directions, and social themes.
Task V: Ushairi (Poetry) - A poem is provided for analysis. Questions require the candidate to explain the main message, identify literary devices, and describe the sound patterns used.
