Tillandsia is a genus of herbaceous epiphytic evergreens of the Bromeliad family. There are about 700 species. The genus covers tropical and subtropical areas of America (Argentina, Chile, Central America, Mexico, southern US states). Some species are used as ornamental-deciduous plants.

Evergreen epiphytic herbaceous plants. In some species, the stem is greatly shortened, and the leaves form an outlet, others have a branching stem with spirally arranged leaves.
