Pre-diabetes - Ryan's Story

Diabetes WA are warning Western Australians they could be living with pre-diabetes and have no idea. Diabetes WA ambassador Ryan Shand had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, with doctors telling him he only had a few years left to live if he did not make any lifestyle changes. Shand changed his lifestyle over 12 months and is now a participant for the 2019 HBF Run for a Reason event to raise awareness of the risks of diabetes. Diabetes WA figures reveal 28 people are diagnosed with diabetes in the state daily, and three out of ten WA hospital beds are occupied due to a diabetes-related complication.
