This ‘VIKINGS’ CD, Is The Very First Major Recording From The Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag Band With Howard Snell As Professional Conductor, And Is An Excellent Example Of The Band’s Abilities As Is Shown In The Playing Of The Two Major Works On This CD By Philip Sparke, ’The Vikings’ And ‘Variations On An Enigma’, The Latter Being The Band’s ‘Own Choice’ Piece That Won Them The 1988 European Brass Band Championships In Lucerne, Switzerland, And Was The First Time That The European Title Was Won By A Non English Band.

The Selection Of Music Chosen By Conductor Howard Snell For This CD Recording, Is A Balanced Programme Of Carefully Chosen Music From The Pens Of Notable Composers & Arrangers Such As Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copeland, Philip Sparke, Darrol Barry, Robert Bernat, Christopher Anderson, J.S Bach, Guarnieri And The Conductor Of The Band, Howard Snell, That Really Showcases Both The Band As Well As It’s Many Soloists, Notably, Jane Westervik (Cornet), Goethe W. Tondheim (Trombone), Hogne Holmäs & Stine Herland (Xylophone) And Ståle Sleire Johansen (Eb Bass).
