Today I wanted to share one of my favorite (and most anticipated) videos with y’all — HOW I HIGHLIGHT MY HAIR AT HOME!

DISCLAIMER
Now I do want to make it clear that:
1. I am NOT a professional! I have been doing my hair on and off myself since I was 13. It has taken lots and lots of practice to get where I am at with knowing how to master the highlighting cap, and I don’t want you to think it’s easy because it’s not a cake walk!
2. I DO have a stylist that I see every so often when I can get time away and have the extra money to pamper myself! I would say I go into a real salon at least once every 6-8 months. In the meantime, these are the techniques I use!
3. I am NOT telling, advising, or recommending that you do this for yourself over a professional if you do not know what you’re doing. I am simply showing you how I DO IT AT HOME when I can’t get into the salon (or during a pandemic lol) and hoping that if you do decide to do this, then I can help you to not fail. If it’s something you feel confident you can do, then go for it. But do not tell your stylist on me when something doesn’t come out right. You are liable here! Lol

I have been using the REVLON FROST AND GLOW KIT for years. It is always my go-to box and has never let me down. Some products that I’ve tried in the past I find come out too brassy, or do not have good quality tools to work with. I really love Revlons caps and prefer them over others!

For this video, I actually highlight with the Revlon cap and then use the Fanola Purple Shampoo in the shower after I wash the bleach out. I left the purple shampoo on for only about 3-4 mins because it is STRONG and does the job quickly! If it comes out brassier than you would like, I would just use the shampoo again until you reach the level of icy blonde you are going for!
However, keep in mind that if you don’t leave the bleach on for the amount of time you need to, then the shampoo won’t be able to get you to the correct lightness anyways. Make sure to figure out exactly how long you need to leave your bleach on for and DO NOT over process!
These products can take a turn quickly and can ruin the integrity of your hair. Again, this is why I only wanted to share my personal experience with y’all and not advocate for you to try this if you have never used it before.

Let me emphasize that this box costs under $10, but you could be paying hundreds to fix a bleach disaster! So if you are trying this, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Also, if it seems like I am being dramatic, y’all have obviously never ran into a bleach issue or you would fully understand and not question me.... lol

I have linked the products that I used above and I wish you the very best on your hair endeavors if you do decide to use the cap at home, too! Hopefully sooner than later the salons will be back up and running and you can get your hair fix! In the meantime, enjoy my small bit of “me time” as I show you the process of highlighting my hair at home and getting to that perfect icy blonde that I love so much!

I’m seriously so happy that I found this Fanola shampoo because it has been life changing! I used the shimmer lights shampoo for years, but that has no comparison to this. This shampoo literally makes me look like I used a toner like Wella or something on my hair. I love it! To maintain this color, i will follow up with the shampoo about 1-2 times a week in the shower. You don’t want to overdo it as it will dry out your hair and WILL turn it purple if used too often! (Unless that’s what you want to go for, girlfriend. In that case— right on!💜)
