SIU Raids | SIU suspects criminal syndicate is operating at SA's five refugee centres
SIU Head Andy Mothibi says he suspects there is a criminal syndicate operating at the country's five refugee centres.
This after Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and the Unit were given a tip off about alleged corruption at the centres - where some immigrants were fraudulently issued with fake documentation.
The SIU and the Hawks have embarked on a search and seizure operation at the Refugee Centres in Marabastad, Cape Town, Durban, Musina and Qheberha.
Mothibi says the data from confiscated electronic devices and documents will help prosecute officials involved in the alleged corruption.
