On April 18, 2025, US authorities arrested Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, a key terrorist behind 14 attacks in Punjab over the past six months. India’s most-wanted, with a ₹5 lakh bounty, Passia is now in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody. Security sources say he collaborated with Pakistan’s ISI and Babbar Khalsa International, orchestrating grenade attacks on police posts in Amritsar, Nawanshahr, and Gurdaspur since November 2024. He claimed responsibility on social media, including for a January 9, 2025, blast at Gumtala and an April 16 attack on a YouTuber’s house. The NIA had chargesheeted him for a 2024 Chandigarh grenade attack.
