The art and science of Berkshire dealmaking

Ajit Jain, Berkshire Hathaway's Vice Chairman of Insurance Operations, takes the mic at the 2019 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. He describes his approach to dealmaking as both an art and a science. Jain says he starts with the data then makes a judgement call. Those "odd-ball calls"-- as Berkshire Vice Chairman Charlie Munger calls them -- have added more than $50B to Berkshire's value.
