Danish PM Says Trump’s Desire to Own Greenland Remains Despite Diplomacy

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said at the Munich Security Conference that U.S. President Donald Trump’s desire to obtain the Arctic territory of Greenland remains unchanged, even though recent threats to seize it by force have eased and ongoing diplomacy seeks to address security concerns. Frederiksen emphasized the need to respect sovereignty and the will of the Greenlandic people as talks with U.S., Danish and Greenlandic representatives continue.
