'Portland was totally out of control' says Trump

Donald Trump is poised to send up to 150 paramilitary personnel to Chicago, but mayor Lori Lightfoot wrote in a letter to the president that the armed cops 'would spell disaster' for the city. Lightfoot, a frequent Trump critic, slammed the president in the letter for 'unhelpful' rhetoric and detailed ways the federal government could help the city to reduce violence. Scores of Border Patrol police and federal marshals in combat fatigues were dispatched to Portland last week and Trump said yesterday that 'we're looking at Chicago, too' along with other cities such as New York and Detroit.
