DIY Tire-to-Timber Mobile Planter

In this project, an old car tire is transformed into a rustic, high-end rolling planter. The build involves attaching a plywood base with heavy-duty casters for easy movement, wrapping the tire in vertical wooden slats, and using a torching technique (Shou Sugi Ban style) for a weather-resistant, charred finish. Filled with vibrant bougainvillea, this project proves that "trash" can become a stunning focal point for any patio or garden.

Pro Tip
When using tires as planters, ensure you drill several drainage holes through both the rubber and the plywood base. Tires can easily trap stagnant water, which leads to root rot. To protect the wood even further, consider lining the inside with a heavy-duty landscape fabric or plastic liner (with holes) before adding your soil.
