The Eagle's Nest
In 2013, WWII 101st Airborne Division veteran, Jim "Pee Wee" Martin (G Company / 506th PIR) fulfilled a wish to visit Adolph Hitler's "Eagle's Nest" on the Obersalzberg in Bavaria. In the spring of 1945 the 101st Airborne Division secured Berchtesgaden and the Obersalzberg. No member of G Company / 506th PIR was able to visit the "Eagles Nest" at that time.
It is likely that Jim Martin will be the last original "Toccoa Man" ever to visit the Eagle's Nest.
