My 2019 Ford F150 5.0L After 7 Months / 7K Miles - Was it Worth Buying?
In this video I give you all an unbiased look at my 2019 Ford F150 XLT 5.0L Crew Cab. I tell you the things I've grown to love about the truck and also the flaws / imperfections I have experienced. Overall the truck has been great and I love it! So far it has been 100% reliable and not given me any mechanical issues at all. The only issues I have experienced with the truck are more cosmetic and things that leave the manufacturer to blame for quality in my opinion. The aluminum body durability remains unknown and to be determined. As seen in the video, the truck suffered some minor tailgate damage in the process of removing some tree stumps. The damage was caused by a cloth / rope like strap rated for 10,000 LBS. The strap snapped and whipped against the tailgate, leaving a few minor dents, while also cracking the chrome handle and Ford emblem. Due to this happening I question the strength of the aluminum body when truly put to the test in a heavy, exhaustive work environment.
The biggest disappointment with the truck was found when I changed the oil for the first time and noticed the plastic oil plug. However, easily fixed in purchasing an aftermarket metal oil plug off of CJ Pony Parts. Since day one my rear windows, (mainly the right rear window) have had issues with the rear buttons that seem to have a short. When holding the buttons in the rear to roll the window down, the window will go down a couple inches, then stop, continuing to stop and go a couple inches at a time until fully rolled down. I love the 10 speed automatic and I'm very happy with it. The performance, highway driving experience and instant shifting make it fun to drive when getting on the throttle. That being said, sometimes it appears to have a mind of its own. It also feels like it is trying to do what it thinks you want to do before even doing it. Such as downshifting when going up or down slight inclines. The gears occasionally hang a little bit too long for my taste in 1st - 3rd then causing a slight lunge forward when it does shift. Often times it will totally skip 2nd and 4th gears. Shifting 1st, 3rd, 5th, then operating normally through the rest of the gears. It has never developed into a major issue for me so it doesn't warrant labeling the transmission as bad by any means.
Future plans include a 2 inch level and either a Borla Atak or MBRP exhaust system.
