Skyrim Legendary Collector Series Episode 150 - Companion's - Wolf Armor
Wolf Armor is a set of Heavy Armor. It consists of a metal breastplate, helmet, gauntlets and boots. The armor does not have a corresponding shield. Most pieces are adorned with some sort of feral motif—be it the likeness of a wolf's head, a skull, or teeth. Wolf Armor cannot be crafted by the Dragonborn, but becomes available for purchase from Eorlund Gray-Mane in Whiterun after completing the quest "Proving Honor." Some pieces of the armor can also be obtained during The Companions questline, and can be seen being worn by senior members of The Companions. The armor and the boots can be looted from Skjor after his death at the end of the Companions quest "The Silver Hand."
Wolf Armor is a variation of Steel Armor: each piece requires a Steel Ingot to upgrade at a workbench, and the Steel Smithing perk will yield greater improvements. Wolf Armor pieces have the same armor ratings as their steel counterparts, but with the exception of Wolf Gauntlets, they are lighter.
This makes them superior to Steel Armor, and arguably superior to Steel Plate Armor—while Wolf Armor offers less protection than steel plate, its base weight-to-armor ratios are more favorable (it has the best weight-to-armor ratio of heavy armor). It is also obtainable through the Skyforge bug.
Wolf Armor does not appear in leveled lists and therefore cannot be found as random loot in chests or as a world item. However, it can be obtained from the following:
Purchased from Eorlund Gray-Mane after joining the Companions.
Worn by several Companions members, including Skjor and Vilkas.
Can easily be taken from Skjor when he dies during "The Silver Hand."
Smithing
Wolf Armor cannot be created at a blacksmith's forge, however, it can be upgraded at a workbench with a Steel Ingot. It also benefits from the Steel Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.
