Former CM Charanjeet Singh Channi says, "I want to make one thing clear. I never speak ill of anyone, nor do I ever say anything against anyone. I recently made an offhand comment that I did not mean in any harmful way. It was not my intention, nor is it my habit, to hurt anyone's feelings. I come from a family with values, and I try to live respectfully. However, if anyone’s feelings were hurt, I sincerely apologize with folded hands. I am deeply sorry if my words caused any harm..."... On notice to former CM Charanjeet Singh Channi over his alleged comments on women at a public rally, Chairperson of the Punjab Women Commission, Raj Lali Gill says, "Yes, we have issued a notice to him and asked him to appear before the commission to give an explanation. Channi sahib had visited Gidderbaha (Assembly constituency) to campaign from Amrita Warring (Congress candidate for bypoll). There the language he used for women was very shameful. The way he compared, Jatt-sikhs, Pandits and women. The example he gave to compare women was shameful. Channi ji has always been surrounded by such controversies.
