Some Big Low Organ Pipes - Exclusive Tour - How do they work? (HD)

Series: Emmanuel Moments

Pipes organs are the premier instrument - the most sonically dynamic in the world and able to provide tonal color like nothing ever invented and built. Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti has a hybrid pipe and analog-electronic installation. Though quite modest in size, this particular organ still breathes with presence. It has provided musical support for more than 2,000 worship services over the past 33 years.

In this video, we look at a few of the largest bass pipes and actually get to see them in action by observing a short rare tour of the pipe loft.

-David Meitzler, Minister of Worship Music, Emmanuel Lutheran Church - Ypsilanti

*NOTE: If playing this video over headphones or a cellphone you will not be able to accurately hear the very low frequencies of the demonstrated bass pipes. This is because the playback device is unable to move a large enough volume of air to reproduce the long sound wave that is interpreted as the low frequencies produced by the pipes.
