US Air Force Largest Plane Ever Made | Full Documentary
Welcome back to the Navy Power channel! In 1963, the United States Air Force began searching for a successor to the C-133 Cargo Master transport aircraft, which was nearing the end of its operational life. This search led to the evaluation of various large military transport aircraft designs. The construction of the first C-5A Galaxy prototype began in August 1966, marking a significant milestone in military aviation history. The aircraft with serial number 66833 made its official debut on March 2, 1968. The design of the C-5 Galaxy completely transformed cargo transport capabilities, especially under harsh combat conditions. The C-5 has long been known as a "heavy lifter," capable of transporting space containers, satellite modification equipment, and heavy military assets such as helicopters. Specifically, the C-5 can carry two M1 Abrams main battle tanks, AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, or even components of the Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile. This capability has made the C-5 an invaluable asset for deploying military forces and equipment worldwide.
Throughout its development, the C-5 has consistently proven to be a crucial support for combat forces. With the introduction of the C-5M variant in recent years, the aircraft not only reinforced its role but also elevated military transport capabilities to a whole new level.
