Kilauea Eruption Update - Lava Lake Drowns One Fissure, As Another Restarts (Dec. 26, 2020)

Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday morning, the northern vent shut down after it was inundated by the rising lava level, and started to drain the lake. At around the same time, the western fissure began erupting more vigorously, spattering and producing streams of lava.
